OTAU TV Satellite Broadcasting Subscriber Set Reorganization Instruction

The main requirements for placement of the subscriber set equipment are:

1) direct visibility to the spacecraft (no interference in sight of buildings, trees, etc. in the line of sight);

2) ensuring reliable attachment of the antenna to the building structures;

3) ensuring unhindered access to the antenna for maintenance work;

4) the absence of the possibility of entering the antenna from roofs or other structures of storm water, ice floes, etc.;

5) the proximity of the antenna and satellite receiver to reduce the length of the cable and the attenuation it introduces.

The subscriber set includes:

1) Satellite offset antenna included (reflector, tie rods, support, positioner, irradiator holder, fasteners).

For reliable signal reception, the antenna diameter depends on the region and varies from 0.9 to 1.2 m.

2) universal low-noise amplifier unit;

3) F-type connectors for crimping;

4) cable RG-6;

5) a household satellite receiver included, not a CAM module (if the TV has a CI connector and the ability to watch satellite TV channels).

The scope of reconfiguration work is determined individually for each subscriber set, based on the current location of the antenna, the length of the cable, and the location of the satellite receiver. If the basic requirements for the location of the equipment included in the subscriber set are met, one of the main types of work for receiving a signal from a KazSat-3 spacecraft is antenna reconfiguration. In case of violation of the conditions for the placement of the subscriber circuit equipment and the inability to reconfigure the antenna to the KazSat-3 spacecraft, the antenna is transferred, which corresponds to the scope of work of the new installation of the subscriber circuit.

To rebuild a satellite dish from Intelsat 904 (60° E) to KazSat-3 (58.5° E), you must first make the settings on the satellite receiver, or on the TV, if you are using a CAM module.

Step One: Configuring the Subscriber Equipment

  • If you are using a satellite receiver that has already been pre-upgraded to the latest software (SW), then reset the receiver to factory settings through the menu, then, when choosing a satellite, specify the KazSat-3, information about the level and quality of the signal will be displayed below (if the satellite dish has already been preconfigured), if the KazSat-3 does not appear in the list of available satellites, check the software version of your receiver again, you may need to update the software.
  • If you are using a TV with a CAM module, the following procedures must be followed:

A) in the TV settings, when choosing a satellite, change Intelsat 904 (60° E) to KazSat-3 (58.5° E), if possible. If there are no KazSat-3 in the proposed list, add the satellite manually, as "User";

B) Change the LNB frequency to "9750";

C) Add 6 transponders of the KazSat-3 satellite to the transponder setting/modification menu according to Appendix 1.

Note: he first stage of broadcasting Otau TV via satellite KazSat-3 is planned using parameters of only 3-transponders B4, B6, B8.

D) Alternately select the added transponders and make sure that the required signal level and quality are available (if the satellite antenna has already been pre-tuned).

Step two: Antenna setup

Elevation angle - the angle by which the line of sight deviates from the horizontal to the satellite.

Azimuth is the angle between the direction pointing to the satellite and the north.

Subscriber reconfiguration is carried out in the following sequence:

1) Определяются координаты размещения антенны (долгота, широта). Определение координат выполняется с помощью прибора с GPS-модулем (GPS – приемник, навигатор или др.);

2) Azimuth, elevation angle values are calculated, as well as the corresponding inclination angle of LNB (LNB), for satellite antenna adjustment. The calculation is carried out using online programs on the Internet, or applications for devices with Android and MacOS operating systems.

All the above parameters for each region of Kazakhstan are different and are calculated individually!

Let's start setting up the antenna.

1) Turn the antenna in azimuth in accordance with the parameters of the KazSat-3 satellite (58.5° E), determine the correct position using the Satfinder device or its analogue (in the absence of a device, it is necessary to navigate by the level and quality of the signal displayed through the TV or receiver menu), achieve maximum signal level;

2) By changing the elevation angle, we achieve maximum signal quality;

3) The last stage of adjustment: adjust the polarization (tilt angle) of the LNB, achieve maximum signal quality.

Note: if a single-band LNB (10,000 MHz) is used, then it must be replaced, since according to the technical parameters of the satellite it will not be able to receive the KazSat-3 signal.

With the correct configuration of the antenna and all parameters corresponding to the technical characteristics of the satellite, we can start configuring the channels.

Step three: Set up channels

Go to the menu, select the "Search for channels" menu, click the "OK" button. Please wait while we search for the full list of channels.

After checking the operation of the subscriber set, the absence of drops and signal breakdowns, information is transmitted about the transition to KazSat-3 to the Consumer Information Support Service of Qazteleradio JSC. Single dial phone in Kazakhstan 193,+7 (727) 2 581 500.

Attention!

All types of work on the reconfiguration of subscriber sets should be carried out by specialists with knowledge in the field of satellite broadcasting systems who have been trained and tested in occupational health and safety.
